CMWL Doctor Q&A

  • Question:How many weight loss programs do you currently offer?
Answer: CMWL physicians currently offer three programs which may be combined depending on the individual. 1) The low calorie diet which may only be prescribed by a physician is the fastest way to lose weight. 2) The modified low calorie diet combines high protein shakes and bars for breakfast and lunch while you are instucted on how to prepare your own meals under the physicans guidance. 3) The appetite suppresant program uses FDA approved prescription medications to expidite your weight loss. The appetite suppressant program is often combined with the low calorie and/or the modified low calorie diet options.
  • Question:I really only want to lose 15 pounds. What would the best plan be for me? How long would it take?
Answer: At your initial consultation the physician will be able to let you know which plan is best suited for you and how long that it will take to lose weight on each of the programs. The decision on which program to utilize is made based on your age, medical condition(s) and motivation level. The physician's goal is to find the program and plan that will work the best and be the most effective based on your individual needs.
  • Question:Does my insurance cover any of the weight loss programs cost?
Answer: Insurance coverage is variable. First, it depends on which particular weight loss program is recommended for your specific needs. It can also depend on how much weight you have to lose. And, finally, it depends on the type of insurance coverage you have. When you come in for your initial consultation, your doctor will help you determine which program costs may be covered when you lose weight.

* Based on a stratified sample of 349 patients over a six-year period. Patients must have remained on the program for a minimum of 28 days and be monitored with at least two physician visits within first 31 days to be included in the study. A variety of nutritional meal replacements were used. 99% of the patients that followed the CMWL program, including a low calorie diet and individual counseling with CMWL physicians, from one month up to a year, weighed less at their last weigh-in than their starting weight.
