Starting Weight: 190 pounds
Current Weight: 144.5 pounds
Total weight lost: 44.5 pounds*
*In a CMWL multicenter randomized trial involving 550 patients who followed a CMWL Low-Calorie Diet (LCD) or Modified LCD Program, both with and without appetite suppressants, the average weight loss was 2 pounds per week over a 12-week period. The research was wholly funded by an independent third party with the exception of travel expenses. According to a study published in The American Journal of Medicine, participants completing a 12-week medical weight loss program lost 11.1% of their body weight, on average. Results may vary.
When I arrived at the Long Island Weight Loss Institute/Center for Medical Weight Loss (LIWLI/CMWL), I was about 180 pounds, with elevated blood pressure and cholesterol. Within a few months, my cholesterol and blood pressure were down to normal. I am under the care of Dr. Andre Giannakopoulos, whose guidance and support is truly immeasurable. He gave me back my life.
Weight Loss at Any Age
At the age of 57, I truly thought that there was so way I could lose weight at my age. I thought the body just settled down and that was it. I was miserable. When I read about CMWL and all of the success they have had, I thought I would try again. I was impressed from my very first visit. I chose the shakes and bars as a good start for my weight loss program. I was very surprised how easy it was! There really was no need to go into the refrigerator and choose a salad or celery. The drinks, to this day, are my favorite. The taste is absolutely delicious.
CMWL’s Individualized Plans
One of the great parts of the CMWL plan is the fact that they realize every person is different and that every day is different, and they help plan for those events that pop up and make dieting difficult. With this plan, Dr. G has guided me through those special days like weddings and other times when it might be hard to say “no.” Just recently I went on a dream of a lifetime cruise through Europe. Dr. G told me that the average weight gain for someone on a cruise is 1 pound per day! Armed with this information, I was very careful. I’m not going to say I starved myself – because I didn’t! I ate like everyone else, the difference being that I exercised as well. When I returned home after the 12-day cruise, Dr. G was surprised to see that I had lost a few pounds!
A Sense of Increased Confidence
Keeping the weight off is a psychological struggle – there’s no denying that. But now that I am armed with the information and the support that I get from CMWL, I feel more confident. I recently won a prestigious award and had to go on stage to accept it. A few years ago, I would have been terrified. That’s not the case now! I walked up to the podium and felt very special not caring that all of the eyes in the room were on me. I love wearing whatever I want and not having to wear black, unless it’s that little black number that I fit into again!
