My name is Travis and it is not an exaggeration to say that the staff and program at the Cedar Rapids Center for Medical Weight Loss have extended my life. In fact, they may well have saved it. I have been morbidly obese for much of my life. No one likes to use that term, but it's true in my case. I weighed nearly 600 pounds a couple of years ago and have had many health problems over time due to that kind of weight. If you can name a diet, except for extreme supplements and various ones based on grapefruit, I have probably tried it over the years. As I closed in on 600 pounds, I finally started to eat better and move more. I lost over 100 pounds on my own, but as soon as I let things start slipping, I worked my way back up pretty quickly. As I faced another round of losing all that weight that I'd already lost over and over again, I began to think it just might not be possible.

In the summer of 2015, I heard about the Center for Medical Weight Loss. After seeing pretty amazing results from a few friends, my wife and I finally visited in late June to see what the program was all about. We had committed to each other to try something together - and to try the program if it seemed at all feasible. After a discussion with Sam and a review of our body composition analysis, we decided this was the program to try.

We left there on June 25th and began the six-week Quick Start phase. I can't lie - the first couple of weeks were very hard. But after that, things really started to settle down and my wife and I began to get used to it. It was a big boost that we were also losing weight quite rapidly and feeling better and better. Later, as we added more typical foods into our daily plan, we looked for healthier ways to cook and healthier foods to eat. It's really helped us bond as we search for ways to change our lifestyle. It's also having a positive impact on our kids as we cook and eat better as a family.

Although our focus really isn't on the numbers as time goes on, everyone wants to hear numbers to help them visualize what they might be able to do. So, let me tell you that as of this writing in mid-November, I have lost almost 120 pounds and my wife is just shy of losing 70 pounds. That's in less than 5 months!

We are eating great food, getting more done around the house and even working out together. We've only worked out the last few weeks - we just felt better and better and wanted to add to that by starting to tone our bodies. I've even been able to stop most of the medications I was taking for weight-related medical issues (with my doctor's approval). He's one of the most surprised people since he's watched me struggle so much over the years.

The one downside is that both my wife and I have dropped several sizes in clothing and we've had to give away a lot of stuff! You can only sew clothing sizes in to a certain point. But guess what? Having to buy some new clothes in sizes you haven't worn in nearly 25 years is a pretty good problem to have!

If you have tried everything and think nothing can work for you, know that this is the one that can. If you commit to the program, you can change your life. It's not too late. My wife and I are living proof.
