At the age of 46, I seriously needed help losing weight. And one day following my routine OBGYN visit, I found the answer to what I was looking for - quite literally in the doctor’s office across the hall! I walked in and discovered my local Center for Medical Weight Loss, where I booked an initial consultation appointment with Dr. Bridget Nord, the head physician of the CMWL practice. During my initial visit, Dr. Bridget (as I and all of her patients call her) took my medical history, gave me a body composition analysis, and we discussed my goals and personal challenges – including medical conditions - when it comes to weight loss. By the end of the visit she had worked out a personalized plan for me. I signed up on the spot and never looked back.
I had explained to Dr. Bridget that I was no stranger to weight loss. I had been on a previous program at a weight loss clinic and lost 107 pounds. I felt so accomplished when I achieved my goal, but I unfortunately gained 57 pounds of it back because I lacked the support needed to maintain healthy weight loss.
With Dr. Bridget, I was able to drop the weight by doing two rounds back-to-back of the CMWL 800 (I meant business!), surpassing the goal estimated for my weight loss during each round. I then began the Modified Plan to begin to reintroduce my favorite foods back into my daily meals while still losing weight. I have lost 50 pounds to date and my BMI is in the healthy range for the first time in many years!
During each of my visits, Dr. Bridget gave me the tools I needed to lose weight and help me keep it off long term (which I plan on doing!) She also consulted with my Primary Care Physician and took into consideration my high blood pressure and heart palpitations. What separates CMWL from other weight loss programs is a caring and compassionate physician who actually understands how to treat medical issues within the context of the weight loss process.
The success of this program for me is a combination of the unique CMWL meal plan approach, which enabled me to see results quickly, and the behavioral counseling sessions that I anticipated with Dr. Bridget each week. She would laugh and cry with me, celebrate my success, and point out that a decrease in body fat was far more important than pounds lost per week. Most importantly, she helped me find a new mantra for life - "Not everyday can be Thanksgiving". That really works for me! With the change in habit and thought process surrounding eating, I am now able to make appropriate choices and continue to maintain and monitor my weight.
I believe in the program so much that asked Dr. Bridget if I could come and work for her. Now, I am the Practice Manager for the Nord Center for Medical Weight Loss and continue to share my story every day with patients who walk through the door. The CMWL program changed my life and I want everyone who has ever struggled with the weight to know that it can change your life too.

What I Like Best About CMWL:Being supervised medically while losing weight. I have hypertension and heart palpitations. It was reassuring to know that my medical conditions and medications were being monitored and that my primary care physician was continually kept informed of my weight loss. I was treated with care and concern. Dr. Bridget shared my success every step of the way. Having now joined my local CMWL team as the Practice Manager and having attended a conference with Dr. Kaplan, I now understand that this is typical behavior for all CMWL physicians and physician extenders.
